How often should a Muslim perform Hajj?
As discussed earlier, Hajj is a great act of worship that involves physically and financially demanding worship. Islam's annual pilgrimage is held every year in last month of Muslim Calender. And, Muslims are required to perform it at least once during their lifetimes.
The Allah Almighty says in Quran: {And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way.} [Quran 3:97]
In respect to financial and physical capability, Hajj is obligatory at least once in a lifetime of a Muslim.
This can further be explained in the light of saying of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him): "Performance of Hajj is once and anything more than that is a voluntary act (of worship)."
Since Hajj entails quite a lot of expenditures and physical exertion as well, it is a very challenging act of worship. Not only has this, but a majority of Muslims take long-haul flights to arrive Makkah. Keeping this in view, an obligation of performing Hajj once is the mercy of Allah depending on certain favorable circumstances.
Although, there are no restrictions on performing Hajj more than once unless you realize that congestion of pilgrims will not lead to any uneven conditions. There are certain other charitable deeds that you can do to be helpful to the needy persons. In addition to this, one should also follow the rules and regulations set by the authorities such as restricting the number of the pilgrims from every country. In the light of facts stated above, anyone who is fortunate enough to perform Hajj once should preferably not repeat. He/She must allow space for the first-timers instead of performing voluntary Hajj.
?Are there any provisions for someone who is physically unfit but hold the financial capacity to perform Hajj?
If someone has the financial capability but unfortunately, he is physically unfit to be able to perform all the rituals of Hajj. He can exercise the provision of bearing the expenses for someone else who agrees to act on his behalf. In this case, the reward is promised to both.
