Peru is arguably the best place in South America to explore the wonders of pre Colombian America. The lost city of Machu Picchu being the greatest attraction of the country as it is the ultimate show case of the Inca civilization that ruled large parts of the South America in until the 16th century. But Machu Picchu is all about history, relics and some impressive architecture, if you want to enjoy both the historical aspect of Peru and a lively nightlife as well then there is no better place in the country than the ancient Inca capital of Cusco. What makes Cusco so unique is that unlike Machu Picchu Cusco is still a pretty alive town with all the world class facilities while the streets of the town are the same ones that were laid by the ancient Inca craftsmen centuries ago.
Cusco is fast becoming a tourism hotspot of Peru and the reason is not only the rich history of the place but also the vibrant lifestyle and nightlife with its numerous nightclubs and bars that are believed to be the best in the continent. Cusco has its own airport which is well connected with the other regional airports but if you are arriving from abroad then you will have to take a cheap flight to Lima the capital of Peru first and then you can either get a connecting flight to Cusco or make the journey by road. You will find the best hotels of the country in Cusco and their prices are quite competitive as well but they depend upon the season you arrive there as the prices increase quite a bit in the summer time as the tourist traffic increase in that season.
Until now most tourists looked at Cusco as nothing more than a gateway to the lost city of Machu Picchu which was correct to some extent as it provides a perfect launching pad for a journey to the city but Cusco has quite a few of its own attractions as well and with the nightlife that it has it sure requires at least a week of stay to fully enjoy the vacation. The walls around Cusco are from the Inca era and so are its streets that are aligned according to the position of different stars as the Incas were expert astronomers of their time. If you want to know about the history of the city and the lifestyle of its residents, then head to the museum in the center of the city where you will find plenty of information and artifacts from the Inca era.
A section of the museum called the Cusco Planetarium is its major attraction as it has most of the precious artifacts of Incas. Qorikancha once the richest temple of Cusco is located just outside the city and is a place worth visiting as well. You will find plenty of nightclubs and pubs in the city that are always flocked with the tourists from around the world providing a different and unique flare to the nightlife of Cusco.
