Air India’s recent step to introduce daily flights from Canadian Capital Toronto to Amritsar in Indian Punjab is likely to start celebrations among the large population of Indian Punjabis living in Canada.
These daily flights between Amritsar and Torontoare planned to start from February 20th, 2011. According to Air India Spokes person, there will be no touchdown in London Heathrow this time. The flights of Air India will take off from Amritsar via New Delhi to Toronto without any midway stopover in Europe.
The times decided for these flights are taking off from Amritsar at 10:30 pm, via a short stopover in Delhi onwards to Toronto. On return the Air India flight will follow a same return route arriving in Amritsar at a convenient time of 06:15 pm daily.
Last year, Air India withdrew its Flights to Toronto from Amritsar via London on October 31st, 2010. Although, it was a plus for London bound passengers, but a long way for those travelling from Canada.
However, in this new route, Air India will be working on its new ‘hub and Spoke policy’ according to which travelers will be first taken to New Delhi International Airport in a smaller 321 aircraft and then flown to London or Toronto in different bigger planes.
