Air Zimbabwe will be resuming the international flights as it is readmitted into the International Air Transport Association. The readmission took place after Air Zimbabwe successfully completed the safety audit. The national flagship carrier airline was de-registered from the International Operational Safety Audit certification when it failed to meet the subsequent requirements in September 2012. However on Wednesday, the board of Air Zimbabwe reveled that they have successfully re-registered in IOSA and have received the certificate successfully.
The license certification was reissued after a successful safety audit of Air Zimbabwe was conducted by the IATA through an accredited audit organization as announced by the Transport and Development Ministry’s permanent secretary Munesu Munodawafa.
The re-admission now ensures that Air Zimbabwe meet all necessary and required global standards of safety in terms of air travel, aviation management and aviation staff. Safety is of utmost level through all the operation chains of the airline.
This is going to be the fourth consecutive year for Air Zimbabwe to be mandated with IATA membership which it got in 2008. The certification has put Air Zimbabwe amidst the most elite airlines that are operating from the sub-Saharan Africa. It is also one of the 25 airlines from its region to receive the IOSA certification.
The minister further said that the benefits of receiving this certification were countless. Not only this certification ensures a good field for potential and current investors but it also ensures that the passengers and clients of Air Zimbabwe will continue to get ever improving, safe and secure service. Tourism industry will also get a great boost from this development.
The principal director of the ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development Mr. Valentine Sinemani said that the Air Zimbabwe is now putting great importance on the rebooting of its value. He also said that the national airline represents a great opportunity of tapping revenue and turnaround of a nation in skies.
