The famous airline All Nippon Air also known as ANA is being renamed Vanilla Air. The president of the airline has reported having said that Vanilla is loved by everyone in the world. Hence the name was chosen. It should also be noted that this name was chosen amongst many suggestions which were over 200. The executives faced these 200 options over a month and a half until they finally decided on the name Vanilla Air.
The president of the previous All Nippon Air, Tomonori Ishii is reported to have said to the reporters in Tokyo that”We chose vanilla as our brand name because it is popular and loved by everyone in the world,”.The president also claimed that the name was chosen not only because of its fame and that it was known by everyone in the world but also because the name was rather “cute”.
The president of the airline Tomonori Ishii was unaware that the west associated vanilla as being bland and plain however this does not change his mind about the new name. initially, the airline was a venture between All Nippon Air and a Malaysian based airline called Air Asia which was called Air Asia Japan. However now that All Nippon Airways completely owns the whole carrier hence a change of name was needed. The president of Air Asia is Tony Fernandes who is also the owner of the famous Tune Hotels and also has a majority stake in the Queens Park Rangers football club.
It is reported that the newly named Vanilla Air will begin its flights in late December. The airline will have a total fleet if two aircraft which will be released by the All Nippon Air. The main target of the airline is going to be the tourists and the newlyweds who are heading out to Asia for their honeymoon. Hence the airline has its main target is the travellers who are travelling to holiday resorts in Asia. Much like the airline’s predecessor this carrier will also be based in Tokyo’s Narita Airport.
The president has also reported having said that the number of aeroplanes will also be increased to 10 till the year 2015. The airline will also begin with services that will cater to short distances and then will expand to the range of mid and long distances which is also in line with the branding strategy of All Nippon Air (ANA). More details and information about the destinations and the ticket fees will be announced by September.
