British Airways Announces New Route to Islamabad from London Heathrow

British Airways has announced recently that with the coming of the New Year, the airline will introduce new routes to different parts of the world.

Whether you are a British Pakistani or a traveller longing to discover the natural beauty of Pakistan, you have the flight route sorted by the most- preferred airline i.e. British Airways.

Starting 2nd June 2019, British Airways would commence its flight operations from London Heathrow to Islamabad’s New International Airport. There is going to be three direct flights operating every week, initially, to Islamabad.The direct flight service would be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and would shorten the flight duration to eight hours.

The country of 208 million had been rattled by terrorist bombings, especially in the late 2000’s but now things are changing for the better. British Airways stopped its services after the Marriott Hotel bombing in 2008, but since then the security situation has improved drastically. After a ten year hiatus, the airline would be resuming its services to international airports in Pakistan.

The news of re-establishing direct flight services was well received in Pakistan. The British High Commissioner added that British Airways’ new route to Islamabad was due to the continuously bettering security situation in the country.

The Pakistani Minister of Commerce, Abdul Razak Dawood also was excited to hear the report and said that

Once word gets around that British Airways is doing business in Pakistan, it will put us one or two notches up as a country to do business with.”

This is indeed great news particularly for the British Pakistani community in the UK. Robert Williams, BA’s Head of Sales in Asia agreed with that statement and added that

“The new service will be particularly popular with the British Pakistani community who want to visit, or be visited by, their relatives”.
