British Airways, the flag carrier airline for the United Kingdom and also one of the largest international airline networks, has recently announced that the airline will be adding new destinations to its flight network in the upcoming summer. The new expanded flight network will now include 4 new destinations in the Mediterranean that will be servicing from Heathrow. The decision to include new routes in the Mediterranean came shortly after the airline’s decision to start serving Funchal in Madeira, Las Palmas in Gran Canaria and Seville from Gatwick.
The new destinations to be included in British Airways flight network serving the Mediterranean include Olbia in Sardinia, Kos and Corfu in Greece and Split in Croatia. The airline has also made updates to its fleet and cabins for these new routes. These new routes are scheduled to take first flight on May 1st in the year 2015.
British Airways has accorded Airbus A319s and A320s for these new destinations. Updates to the fleet include installation of new cabins, more comfortable leather seating and also enhanced mood lighting.
This decision to service more destinations in the Mediterranean was brought about to cater to the increasing demand of including new cheaper short-haul flights. This decision is also expected to bring about huge profits as it will be servicing closer vacation destinations from Heathrow. The airline is offering airfares as cheap as £39 each way.
British Airways has long prided in being one of the leading airlines in the business offering quality and comfort to all its valued passengers. The airline has also directed investments of approximately £5 billion in bringing new aircrafts, better cabins, new technological innovations and more comfortable and luxurious lounges in an effort to continuously offer better services to their passengers. As such, British Airways has also recently launched temporary lounge facilities at Washington Dulles Airport.
