Boeing Inc. has delivered its first Boeing 737-800 aircraft with new and upgraded Sky interior to Continental Airlines. With this new addition in the Continental fleet, this US based airline has become the first in US to own Boeing ‘s Next Generation 737-800 aircraft with sky interior.
This is the second Boeing 737 delivered to Continental Airline that took to the skies over Seattle today. Continental Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Continental Holdings, Inc., and its jet now features the new United Airlines livery. This flight marks completion of 13 deliveries to the first five launch customers for the innovative 737 Boeing Sky Interior. At this occasion, Ron Baur, United fleet vice president expressed: “We are proud to be the first carrier in North America to introduce the brand-new Boeing Sky Interior to our customers”
He added: “The new lighting and sculpted side panels give the 737 a modern and more spacious look, while providing increased overhead storage space.”
Continental is now the first in US to operate flights with new Next Generation Boeing 737-800 with improved interior. The airline operates domestic, regional as well as international flights with popular routes including flights to New York, Tampa, Washington, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and Boston.
According to the Boeing Inc strategy, the company aims at improving and enhancing its models for the comfort and convenience of the travelers as well as airlines and changing market trends. The new Boeing 737-800 Sky Interior is part of Boeing’s strategy to make it t more efficient and economical to operate and maintain and more comfortable for passengers. The Next-Generation 737 are 5 percent more fuel-efficient than the first Next-Generation 737s delivered in 1998, and another 2 percent improvement is on the way.
With the second delivery to Continental Boeing has marked a new record for Boeing 737-800 yearly deliveries of 376 in comparison to the 2009 record of 372 deliveries.
