Emirates will initiate flights on the Melbourne-Auckland route from its Dubai hub by the 2nd of October this year. The route will be operated on an Airbus A380 on a daily basis. It will connect both the destinations to a range of intercontinental routes shouldered by the airline via Dubai with flights to London, Manchester, Paris, Rome and Amsterdam.
Emirates is already operating a route between Australia and New Zealand from Dubai, with an A380 designated on the Dubai-Sydney-Auckland route since 2009. Following its alliance with Australia’s premier flag-carrier Qantas, Emirates seems to progress with establishing Australia flights.
This will be Emirates’ third daily flight to Melbourne. From Dubai, EK 408/409 arrives at Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur, while EK 404/405 arrives via Singapore.Emirates is by far the largest Airbus A380 operator among the list of international carriers. The airline has currently 23 of the world’s largest commercial aircraft, and is expected to intensify its reliance on the model with fleet expansions occurring in the next five years.
