In an aviation industry where airlines are known to offer substandard and bland food to their passengers, Japan Airlines has stood out from the herd and provided its customers with meals to savour. While multi-national companies pay significance to every detail of their product so as to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction, the aviation industry has followed the opposite trend by failing to provide passengers with arguably the most important element of their journey; decent food. Japan Airlines has vowed to break this undesirable trend and its recent changes in flight packages include luxurious meals, exhibiting rich Japanese culture.
One passenger’s account describes a meal consisting of an appetizer with 9 delicacies, based on the main course of grilled cutlass-fish, potato salad, braised chicken and radish sauce. All this was followed by servings of mouth-watering dessert. The provided to the passengers is emblazoned with the word BEDD, an acronym for bed, eating, delicious and dream. This composition represents the four critical elements of a journey through Japan Airlines; a comfortable reclining seat with ample space to resemble a bed, a meal fit for kings followed by a comfortable sleep full of delightful dreams.
Appetizers consist of nine delicacies served in different bowls, enough to savour a little taste. Arguably the most lavish dishes of the appetizers are the miso-flavoured mince pork in ginger sauce and steamed eel with fish cake and duck breast. The sheer lavishness and complications of just the appetizers prompts how serious the host airline is about providing their customers with the most pleasant journey possible.
Available on the menu are dishes from Japanese as well as western cuisine. Beverages of all kinds, shakes and juices are served. Add these up with comfortable seats and top of the range entertainment centers and the passengers will be subject to one of the most luxurious travelling experiences of their life.
