UK’s fifth biggest Monarch Airlines have ceased down operations with immediate effect on Monday, 2nd October 2017. It left nearly 110,000 of customers stranded on their overseas destinations and more than 3 hundred thousand advance bookings for flights and holidays have also been cancelled.
There has been an immense pressure on weaker Britain Airlines to compete in the United Kingdom. The only way to save the drowning boat is by consolidation or becoming insolvent to look for new investors for the parts of the business. Though, Monarch Airlines caught into difficulty after CAA refused to renew the license to sell holiday packages. After failing to acquire the license, Monarch becomes the largest airline in the UK to cease flight operation and announces on social media;
“We’re sorry to announce that Monarch has suspended flights and holidays”
In order to facilitate the stranded customers, nearly 30 aircraft are expected to be chartered from Gulf airline to bring back the affected customers from overseas countries. The government, after taking administration of the airline, has already started efforts to save the customers from any trouble caused by the airline. Moreover, for future bookings, many anxious customers are seeking ATOL protection to get the refund after the mass cancellation of the flights which is only available on holiday packages and not on flight tickets.
The customers in limbo are advised to keep visiting www.caa.co.uk for further updates on returning flights from overseas.
