The German airline Lufthansa has taken onboard comfort, design and seating to a whole new level. Recently, the airline has announced to install nearly 32,000 new seats on more than 180 aircraft in its fleet. This refurbishing is estimated to take up to an year for completion and will be deployed on medium and short haul flights only. As part of a comprehensive program to revamp the airline’s in-flight product, Lufthansa Airline is investing about 170 million Euros in this project.
These newly designed seats are said to introduce a new travel trend in the aviation industry and will open up a new travel experience to the users. The seats are specially designed to ensure greater passenger comfort through the deployment of new ergonomically shaped seats featuring a slim backrest that gives passengers almost two extra inches of legroom. Further to that, as the newly designed Recaro seats take up less room than the previous seats, up to two additional rows of seats can be installed on each aircraft. Which means availability will no more be a problem.
The enhancements are not limited to seats only as the airline is also offering improved catering as well. As part of the new in-flight service concept, passengers travelling in Economy Class will again be offered snacks such as muesli bars and chocolate. These offers are generously extended on domestic routes with Lufthansa as well.
Towards the completion of refurbishing, Lufthansa Airline will be able to offer around 2,000 additional seats, on its routes. The new seat is also a real bonus from an ecological point of view as the materials used and the seat’s innovative structure, each row of seats is almost 30 pounds lighter than the previous seat rows.
Lufthansa also offers International flights to Nairobi, Johannesburg, London, Zurich, Dubai, Cape Town, Bangkok, Cairo, Accra, Durban and many other prominent worldwide destinations.
