The famous One World alliance which includes 12 leading airlines such as American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas etc. has gladly welcomed Qatar Airways to join in. This provides them access to one of the World’s fastest growing airlines and the recognized modern hub in the capital of Qatar; Doha.
This announcement was followed by the announcement of the Abu Dhabi based Etihad Airways entering into a commercial partnership with Air France. Of course all this followed the wide ranging announcement of the biggest of Persian Gulf airlines; the Emirates of Dubai combining with the Qantas Airlines of Australia.
Recently, the chief executive of Qatar Airways Akbar Al Baker has been reported to say and we quote “when you cannot defeat someone, you’ve got to join them”. This is probably reflective in Qatar Airway’s decision to merge with the American Alliance in hopes to benefit from this global partnership and as we have seen this is the latest trend when it comes to air travel the importance of which is expected to follow long into the future.
Al Baker has also said that this decision was influenced by the Airline’s concern to offer its passengers with better quality of services which they truly deserve and as a step to strengthen their position in the global market alongside their competitors. As a result, the decision has resulted in offering more destinations, easier connections and of course the ability and the great advantage of transferring frequent flier miles amongst the airlines.
The travelers are also promised speedy boarding and check in and they are graciously given access to more business lounges at the airports all across the world. This indeed is bound to attract not only more passengers but also a greater degree of loyalty to the concerned airlines hence resulting in more revenue and eventually profits. Of course this has also resulted in benefits to the One World Alliance which now has easy access to more destinations and a great consumer out reach.
