If you are aspiring to visit Norway and all its vistas, things have been made easier for you now courtesy the recently created nonstop competition to Oslo; a city blessed with breathtaking places and attractions.
Until a few days back, there was only one nonstop route to Oslo; only Continental connected the United States with Norway nonstop, this via New York/Newark flights. Now however, SAS has emerged to be a competition for this route by offering its daily nonstop flights. One flight reaching Oslo is operated by the Scandinavian airline’s new wide-body A330-300 twinjets which departs from the Newark Liberty International Airport at 7:10 pm each day and arrives in Oslo at 9:35 am the next day. SAS’s A330 takes lead over Continental’s daily narrow body Boeing 757 by 50 minutes on the 3,666-mile transatlantic stretch.
The flights operate such that Continental’s New York/Newark flights to Oslo departs EWR at 8:00 p.m. and gets to Oslo at 9:45 a.m. the next day. Whereas SAS’s return Oslo flights to New York/Newark depart Oslo at 11:10 a.m. and arrive EWR at 1:15 p.m. the same day. Continental’s Oslo to New York/Newark flights leave at 11:25 a.m. and arrive Liberty International Airport at 1:50 p.m.
If we compare the two substitute flights, Continental has an edge in terms of connectivity stateside since it operates a major hub at Newark but SAS takes the lead when it comes to offering routes to many Scandinavian countries outside Oslo. As a matter of fact, no other nonstop service connects United States to Oslo apart from SAS’s and Continental Airline flights from Newark.
