The Seattle (Washington) based carrier, ‘Alaska Airlines’ has announced recently to launch new seasonal flights to Hawaii Island. The launch of this new and special route was announced earlier this week with first flights to operate from Friday November 12, 201. The airline has stated that the special flight route will be connecting Portland, Oregon with Kona, on Hawaii Island, for a limited season.
The new flight service between Portland Oregon and Kona, Hawaii commencing from November 12th to April 09th, 2011 will offer four flights a week. The flight leaving Portland will depart at 05:40 pm arriving in Kona, Hawaii at 09:50 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. While the return flights to Portland, will be leaving Kona at 09:25 am arriving in Portland at 05:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays (times based on local time zones).
The airline will be using Boeing 737-800 aircraft for these services. The aircraft will offer both First and Economy cabins with 16 seats in First and 141 seats in economy class. An important attraction and specialty of these flights to Hawaii is that, all Alaska Airline flights will be offering Hawaiian-themed beverage and meal service. Travelers to Hawaii, using Alaska Airline seasonal flights will be offered complimentary “Hula Blend” coffee, custom designed for Alaska Airlines by Seattle’s Best Coffee, and exotic Hawaiian-themed meals-for-purchase in the main cabin for US$6 or US$7. Also, the Airline Offers complimentary Mauna Loa macadamia nuts and a Mai Tai or passion-orange-guava juice to customers in regular cabin.
Alaska Airline currently operates Flights to various Hawaiian destinations operating form Portland including major routes to Kahului, Maui, and Honolulu.
