On the 6th of July, Emirates becomes the first ever airliner to land an A380 double decker at Gatwick Airport, Emirates announced last week that it will make history, yet again. The news comes with the airliner’s intention to mark its 25 years anniversary of Gatwick airport operations. The A380 will operate flight EK016 from Gatwick to Dubai departing at 1530, and EK015 from Dubai to Gatwick which arrives earlier in the day at 1230.
The A380 service comes with amenities on board the aircraft that are a treat to experience. Renowned worldwide, these services include:
1. ‘Ice’ in-flight entertainment, offering 1,300 channels of on demand entertainment in all classes.
2. On board Shower Spas in First Class – first one of its kind
3. Exclusive First and Business Class on board lounge
Emirates Airline has three (3) daily flights for Gatwick; one of these will be operated by the A380. Salem Obaidullah, Senior V.P of commercial Operations said that Emirates has changed the face of travel industry in U.K since 1987 when it started a daily flight to U.K at Gatwick airport. Now it has 16 daily flights to U.K and keeps growing while covering 120 destinations as I pen this news.
The Chief Commercial Officer for Gatwick, Guy Stephenson, expressed his delight while quoting it a “double celebration” as not only does the airliner celebrate 25 years, but the airport also celebrates receiving its first A380 flight.
