In a recent warning released by Met office today December 21, 2010 at 04:02 am, the country likely to remain highly affected with adverse weather and heavy snow. According to the forecast:
“Snow is still affecting parts of southeast England, mainly Kent. There are also snow showers affecting some of the coasts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Accumulated snow depths from recent snow events include Heathrow with 5 cm, Charlwood (near Gatwick) with 9 cm, and Dunkeswell (Exeter) with 22 cm. In the north, Aberdeen has 12 cm and Wick 13 cm“
The airports throughout the continent are experiencing flight delays, cancellations, disruptions and many flights are currently being diverted to other airports. The most recent and up to date information about all major airports in UK are as follows:
LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT:
London Heathrow is currently, semi-operational and arrivals and departures from and to the airport are reduced until 06:00 am until Wednesday 22nd, 2010.
LONDON GATWICK AIRPORT:
Gatwick is the second busiest airport in the UK, however flights to and from London Gatwick are facing disruptions due to adverse weather conditions. The major airlines flying from London Gatwick are Air Zimbabwe, Air Afriqiyah, Emirates and KLM airline.
LONDON CITY AIRPORT:
At city airport, situation is no different either with many flights delayed, cancelled and disrupted until further notice.
BRISTOL AIRPORT:
Flights to and from Bristol Airport are disrupted due to poor weather.
ABERDEEN AIRPORT:
Aberdeen (Dyce) Airport is also challenged by adverse weather and flights to and from the airport are disrupted.
NEW CASTLE AIRPORT:
Flights to and from Newcastle International Airport are facing delays, cancellations and rescheduling at the hand of bad weather and thick snow.
BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT:
Birmingham is also one of the busiest airports in the country and equally facing flight delays to arrivals and departures.
GLASGOW AIRPORT:
Glasgow International Airport and Belfast as well, are affected by adverse weather conditions elsewhere in UK and currently, flights are getting delayed and disrupted.
EDINBURG AIRPORT:
According to most recent updates on BBC travel, disruption is possible to flights to and from Edinburgh International Airport due to adverse weather conditions.
MANCHESTER AIRPORT:
Disruption is possible to flights to and from Manchester International Airport due to adverse weather conditions elsewhere in the UK and Europe. Earlier today flights from Manchester have been diverted to other airports in the country.
Due to inconsistent conditions, all travelers are advised to contact their airport or their airline / travel agency before leaving to get up to date information on their flight status
