The Atlas Mountains are located in the north-western side of Africa stretching through Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, occupying the land of about 1,500 miles. Primarily its major part is situated in Morocco with Toubkal mountain- the highest peak elevated at the height of 13,671 feet and lies in southern Morocco.

Middle Atlas Range- The part which is located completely in Morocco is called the Middle Atlas Range. It is defined by an elephantine plateau that stretches towards the eastern Algeria. The southern side of the range is separated by Oum Er-Rbia and Moulouya rivers.
High Atlas- The area which is located in the Central Morocco is called as High Altas and it rises up in the western side of Atlantic Coast, extending towards the east of Moroccan and Algerian border. A man-made lake called as Lalla Takerkoust is also situated here which provides habitat to numerous fish species.
Anti-Atlas ranges- This range stretches from Atlantic Ocean towards south-western side of Morocco and north-eastern side of Ouarzazate and extending further to the eastern side of Tafilalt city, covering a distance of about 500 kilometres.
Saharan Atlas Range- The eastern side of the range is called as the Saharan Atlas Range and the highest peak that is located in the domain is Djebel Aissa which has the elevation of about 7,336 feet. This range is very appropriate for agricultural purposes as it receives a good amount of rainfall.
Tell Atlas Range- This mountain range covers an area of about 1,500 kilometres that extends towards Tunisia. Towards it southern side there lies a great plateau which features lakes in the rainy season and salty surfaces in the dry weather.
Aurès Mountain Range- The far away eastern portion of the mountain range that is located in Tunisia and Algeria is called as Aures mountain range.
