London: A few months ago we informed our readers about the £6.5 billion birthday bash British Airways is throwing this year. The airline just blew one of the candles on the birthday cake yesterday, when Airbus delivered one of the A350-1000. The new aircraft was greeted by British Airways officials, who were all optimistic and excited about the introduction of a new A350 into the airline’s fleet. Although the airline has ordered a total of eighteen A350s, there would be only three more A350-1000s joining British Airways by the end of this year.
The new aeroplane comes packed with modern features and designs to accommodate the passengers better and reduce the cost per flight for the airline. These new A350s will bring British Airlines back into the realms of luxury airlines with cheaper seats. A350-1000s can exert a Take-Off Thrust of 44 tons, enabling them to fly from shorter runways while carrying more weight. Even with this extra power, the aircraft is more eco-friendly than its predecessors. The A350 cuts down the carbon dioxide emissions by 25% and is about 40% quieter than most other aeroplanes. The engines burn fuel cleanly and quietly and provide a smoother and more comfortable onboard experience.
For now, the airline would be flying this brand new aircraft to Madrid. However, in the coming months, the A350s with a British Airways logo would be landing in Toronto, Dubai, Tel Aviv and Bangalore as well. The features on board provide the highest level of comfort for all the passengers, despite the class configuration. The air circulating through the cabin is filtered and refreshed after every two to three minutes. This way, the air inside the aeroplane is only adequately dry, and you would not be getting any chapped lips on this aircraft. Right now the airline has three classes in total. The Club Suites has 56 seats and is the British Airway’s newest business class product with a 1-2-1 seating pattern. There are 56 World Traveller Plus seats following a 2-4-2 seating configuration and 219 World Traveller seats.
The staff of the new vehicle and the management of British Airways were all ecstatic about the new introduction. While talking to the press, Sajida Ismail, BA’s Head of In-flight Product said,
“The 1-2-1 configuration in Club World is going to be amazing. The World Traveller cabin is amazing as well. We’re going to be providing great onboard service with excellent entertainment. There is WIFI on board, so the passengers can work when they want to and play new games”.
Adding to that, the Director of Brand and Customer Experience at British Airways, Carolina Martinoli said that,
“The A350 is a fantastic aircraft and an excellent showpiece for British engineering. Our customers are going to love the space, lights and comfort on board.”
The company’s twitter page also celebrated the event by posting a tweet earlier this month. Airbus, the aircraft’s manufacturer, was also happy to see the new A350 with a BA livery join the airline’s fleet.
