In a rare turn of events, Virgin Atlantic has announced today that they will stop operating flights between London and Nairobi w.e.f 23rd September 2012. The press release explains that the main reason behind this inevitable action is the rapid Increase in costs and difficult economic conditions in Kenya as well as European region during the Last 5 years has added to this eventual decision in the making to withdraw this flight operation.
The last flight on LONDON-NAIROBI route will fly from Heathrow on flight number VS671 on 23rd September 2012 and the last flight from Nairobi-London route will fly with flight number VS672 on 24th September 2012. The passengers who have already paid in full for their flights after these dates and have received their tickets should contact their travel agents (excluding the ones who booked directly with Virgin Atlantic) to get alternative flights with Kenyan Airways free of charge on certain flight booking classes.
These are limited seats and there is a sound possibility that many passengers may be left out due to no availability or in case where passengers find this option not suitable. In such cases a refund of your money may be offered by the airline less any administrative fees of the travel agents.
Please contact your agent at the earliest so that they can communicate your decision to Virgin Atlantic as soon as possible.
