Emirates Airline, like many other airlines, following the recent British Airways purchase of British Midland, has devised the method for accommodating their clients on alternative flights as against originally booked flights which have now been changed. The airliner communicated that BD routes are now being transferred to BA selling and inventory control in different phases and this will affect EK passengers already ticketed to travel these BD services.
As per the news release, the following BD sectors will be moved to BA flights on the travel dates specified in table below;
BD Sector Effective Travel Date
LONDON-DUBLIN/BELFAST/MANCHESTER 27 June 2012
LONDON-ABERDEEN/EDINBURGH 04 July 2012
Passengers are advised to contact their travel agents to confirm how their bookings have been affected. Travel Agents may not be able to access and compile all affected bookings as there is very little they can do to trace it. Issuing Travel Agents will be responsible for re-issuing the affected tickets with the new flight details. All EK tickets must be re-issued on an involuntary re-route basis at no extra charge to the passenger.
After the effective travel dates, any un-ticketed or new bookings will not be rebooked onto BA flights and from 27th June 2012, all BD fares as per the Emirates Interline contract will be withdrawn from sale.
Existing ticketed bookings will not be affected.
Un-ticketed Bookings
For ABERDEEN and BELFAST, affected passengers can be booked onto appropriate flights with Flybe (BE). The contract needs to be checked first for the booking classes to be used.
The airline announced with regret that no replacement interline option will be available for EDINBURGH.
Where an appropriate alternative is not available, Emirates will offer refunds free-of-charge on all BD / EK journey sectors. Passengers are advised that there may be travel agent fees applicable since they are a 3rd entity between passengers and airlines providing additional services after providing the tickets.
