To meet the ever-growing travelling demands of the 21st century, Heathrow Airport is all set to develop a third runway in the coming times. The proposal of the runway was backed and necessitated by the Airport Commission, which led to its acceptance by the UK Premier David Cameron. It is decided that by the end of the year a final decision to initiate the plan would be made.
This third runway will be constructed in the northwest area of the original airport and will be 2 miles long. It will also involve the inclusion of a Central Terminal and an extended business park. The whole project is estimated to cost a massive £19billion. However, this cost is quite worth, as it will generate job opportunities on a large scale and the estimated GDP will rise up to £147 billion in the next 60 years.
The best feature of this runway is the fact that it is going to be spacious enough to accommodate the biggest of aircraft, which in result will not only benefit the revenue production but also help in exceeding the number of flights to 74000 in a year. This addition will put the Heathrow Airport on the same level as that of Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam.
An artist provided amazing Sketches of this proposed project for the world to see its magnificence once it is built. The images reflect how this mega project will be assisted to the existing airports by dividing the pressure of the UK airport terminals. This extension would not only lay positive impacts on the airline companies but, will also create ease to the passengers and freight operators.
