Perth Airport has set ahead with multiple projects to undergo a complete overhaul spanning over the next few years. The airport is highlighted to obtain a new status nationwide while aiming for perfection in customer services available to passengers and visitors at the facility. Stepping up with airline operations, the administration is coordinating with Virgin Australia for developing the international and domestic terminals. The airline is expected to shift to the airport as its new hub after the development is finished.
The new international lounge is being designed to give a spacious outlook along with lightning panels to allow daylight in the building. Wi-Fi services will be provided free of cost while touch screens along with sms service will obtain feedback from passengers and visitors at the airport. Baggage handling and check-in counters will be upgraded with new systems. The airport will also cater commercial growth with restaurants, shopping centers and other avenues of entertainment.
Qantas is expected to shift towards the international side of Perth Airport after the 2nd phase is completed. The second phase includes extension of the T1 terminal concluding the entire project. The terminals will be established with state of the art technology including certain features never implemented in an international airport to date. Sensor processing and thermal imaging will be interpreted through cameras installed for real time-video coverage at all the terminals, which will be fed to data analysis software installed in the control center at the airport.
The monitored data will give feedback on screens for estimated waiting times for passengers in the queues at the terminals in real time. It will also indicate passenger traffic control for instantaneous directions to the staff. Peak hours will therefore be handled accordingly to minimize waiting time at the queues.
