Frozen Meat on the Beach: Take a leisurely drive up to Port Chalmers which is famous for being the launching site for New Zealand’s major frozen meat industry shipment. If you do not wish to tour the place then take to the shops which offer the best bargains and an ethnic vibe in their cultural and unique boutiques. The Aramoana beach also makes for the best spot to picnic or simply take a stroll in. The line-up of small cafes also makes for a good treat. Here you will even find the famous Speight;s Brewery where you can take a tour and sample their brews.
World’s Most Southern Motorway: This State Highway’s 10 kilometer section makes for an interesting drive and gives you the chance to see the Mosgeil and panoramic views of the Taieri Plains. Stop and take a walk on the scenic trails or go fishing or picnicking the choice is yours. Or if its something more adventurous you prefer then go horse riding and get information about the riding trails from anyone of the visitor centers.
New Zealand’s Firsts: In Dunedin you will find a tour that will take you to New Zealand’s first public art gallery, first daily newspaper, first art school, first medical school and university. And if you visit the Ethel Benjamin Place here is where New Zealand’s first female lawyer was named. And you can even have lunch at the First public botanical garden of New Zealand. Sample cheese at the New Zealand’s first cheese factory and get the chance to see New Zealand’s only castle and the world’s only mainland Albatross Colony.
