Bolivia is the real New World, its culture, landscape and its biodiversity makes it a real symbol of Latin America as we know of it through its legends and fairy tale like stories. While the rest of the continent is pacing towards modernization and as a result of excessive development in its urban and rural areas, Bolivia has maintained its same classical appeal and feel. Its climate may be the only drawback of this gorgeous destination as it’s quite harsh and yet quite diverse as well, you will find quite an extreme cold in its mountainous regions while the plains are mostly hot and humid. Many of its colonial-era cities are part of the UNESCO’s world heritage sites and thousands of tourists flock them all year long to be amazed by the richness of their culture and beauty of their architecture.
But it’s not just the colonial architecture that is making Bolivia an attractive tourist destination the biodiversity of its rainforests is also receiving quite a few positive reviews from the visitors who have ventured into them. One place, in particular, is making a name for its self, it’s the national park built on the Amazonian watershed of Rio Madidi. The Parque Nacional Madidi is perhaps the most diverse national park in the world and is home to some 45 per cent of all the species of mammals of the Americas and it has about 10 per cent of all the bird species in the world which is more than any other part of the world. The only problem will be getting to this remote national park, if you are not already in the country then it will be a good idea to take La Paz Flights and then make the journey by road to San Buenaventura for which you can hire a car from La Paz. You are expected to pay a fee of about $ 10 in San Buenaventura for venturing inside the park.

The park covers an area of 1.8 million hectares and this includes a diverse topographic area that ranges from the lowland watershed habitats of the animals to the towering heights of the Andean Peaks. This is one of a few places in the world which are spared by modern influence and you will be able to see the gorgeous park with its natural goodness.
But how long will it stay this way is any body’s guess as there are rumours that the Bolivian government is planning to allow the oil companies to explore for the oil and gas in the surrounding area which the scientists and environmentalists fear will cause tremendous negative effects on the species living in the park and so affecting its ecosystem. There are a few hotels in the San Buenaventura area which offer lodging and dining at an affordable price but there are not many places to stay within the park. But you are allowed to set up a camp in the park and it will be an awesome experience spending a night in the magnificent settings of the Amazon.
