Buenos Aires is the capital and the largest city of Argentina and it is also the economic, political, financial and cultural centre of the nation. Its port is one of the busiest ports in the country also serving as a distribution hub for a wide area of the south-eastern region by connecting Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and north-east Argentina by Rio de la Plata and other rivers.
Covering an area of approximately 203 square kilometres this is a great city with some of the buildings having commendable architecture including Palace of Justice, Teatro Colon and National Congress.
Tourism in the city has been rapidly grown in the last decade. Travel and tourism publications took a survey for the most desirable city and Buenos Aires was voted the second most desirable city after Florence, Italy.
Buenos Aires has a perfect climate and environment for travelling and tourism, there are more possibilities and activities for everyone on every budget. San Telmo and Palermo are well known for hosting many pubs, cafes, bars, hotels, restaurants, and guest houses ranging from average to world-class and marvellous luxurious hotels can be found in the city and you have a vast variety to choose the one that suits your choice and budget. San Telmo is the most visited area in the southern part of the city, with its cobblestoned streets and historic buildings this part also has some other attractions like churches, antique shops, music festivals and antique fairs. Dorrego Square is the place to be on weekends to enjoy street performances of local music bands and tango dancers.
Buenos Aires has a very well established transport network system including highways, subways, commuter rail, Trams, buses and Taxis. The city is also served by high-speed train service with speeds up to 320 kilometres per hour; project for a new high-speed rail line between Cordoba, Buenos and Rosario is in progress.
Ministro Pistarini International Airport or commonly known as Ezeiza Airport is the main airport providing services for most of the international flights to Buenos Aires, there are two other smaller airports Aeroparque Jorge Newbery airport, that serves mainly for domestic flights and a few flights to Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil and Chile, the second airport is the San Fernando Airport this airport only serves for small aircrafts including chartered flights and general aviation.
