Jewish open-air memorial, Reichstag:
You will find a number of structures in remembrance of the country’s unforgettable past in the western part. Many city squares are being adorned with perfect sensitivity and ingenious creativity to pay homage to its past. One such spot is the Jewish open-air memorial near the Reichstag. It is certainly the most stunning thing you will ever see. It encompasses 2711 concrete blocks in the grey of different lengths erected on the ground in the shape of a surging grid. They are set in such a way that they create an illusion of motion.
Berlin Brandenburg Gate:
If you are on a short time visit and you do not have much time for exploration, then Brandenburg Gate is the best point to start your tour. It is an iconic spot also known as Brandenburg Tor at Pariser Platz. It was one of the former checkpoints from where you could enter into the city and now it is the only one left. The gate is decorated in Acropolis style with twelve columns topped with the statue of the Goddess of Victory, driving on her horse chariot.
Checkpoint Charlie:
From the Brandenburger Gate you can travel to the Checkpoint Charlie, which is an open-air exhibit, constructed on a former checkpoint between both sections of the city. Before going into the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, look around in the nearby shops where, souvenirs are sold in remembrance of the wall. Moreover, the wall is not there, but you can still buy some parts of it of around15 euros each.
Famous hedonistic Spots:
Berlin is famous for being the party hotspot of Europe and is famous among those looking for the best hedonistic escape. It is a hub of nocturnal activities with bars, nightclubs and pubs dotted everywhere.
The intimacy and elementary status of the eastern side can also be observed from its nightlife. East Berlin is all about partying at charmingly scruffy settings like the famous Prenzlauer Berg. It is the latest craze among the youngsters. You can come here with your simple and humble look, without being too flashy or formal and gulp down on a German beer or two in transient bars while enjoying a relaxing time. You can either tag along with a friend or discover these shabby yet intensely eclectic powerhouses, by yourself and dance until the dawn. It is completely hypnotic that even in the morning you will find it all charged up. Best clubs on the east side include Badeschiff at eichenstr a bar on Berlin’s riverside beach, Kiki Blofeld at kapenicker str that is an open-air club and Panorama a 24-hour nightclub etc.
West Berlin is quite the opposite. It is home to the most stylish designer outlets and exotic shopping malls. If you happen to be in the area head over to Kudu. The whole area is immaculately refurbished. Seek out your favourite designer outlets and relish the phenomenal architecture of the newly invented structures. Unlike the eastern side, you will not be able to find the quaint bars, but the elegant roof top bars and discos are in vogue here. 40 seconds sky bar at Potsdamer Straße, Puro on the Europa-Center at Charlottenburg and Solar in Kreuzberg are some of the top party spots.
