London is the Capital of England and the United Kingdom. It is a leading global city and the world’s largest financial centre. This city is home to the headquarters of more than 100 of top European companies and this city is also on top by having the largest city GDP in Europe. This city is a major tourist destination and has the most international visitors than any other city in the world. The city is served by the London Heathrow International Airport or commonly known as just Heathrow Airport. This airport is the world’s busiest airport by the number of international passengers. It is the second busiest airport by traffic movement in Europe. This airport is located about 22 kilometres from Central London. This airport has two main runways and five terminals. This airport serves for all major international airlines having flights to London from all over the world and is capable of handling every type of aircraft including the largest aircraft. Many airlines operate through this airport having routine flights to many other destinations worldwide including flights to Canada, USA, Germany, China, Japan, Asia and many other countries.

This city is home to four World Heritage sites namely Tower of London, Kew Gardens, Palace of Westminster and St. Margaret’s Church. There are many other sites and buildings of interest like the Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, St. Paul’s Cathedral and London Eye. Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress or commonly known as the Tower of London is located on the bank of River Thames in central London is a historic castle. William the Conqueror built this white tower in 1078; it is this same tower from where this fortress gained its current name. Another major tourist attraction is the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew commonly known as Kew gardens covering almost 121 hectares comprising of glasshouses and gardens located between Kew and Richmond in southwest London.

London is a major centre for higher education and research. The city is also a well-known centre for shopping and fashion.
