When we think of the beaches in the USA then we all think of Florida with Miami and Key area beaches that are some of the world’s most beautiful. But these are not the only beaches USA can offer, in the states of New England you will find some of the most gorgeous beaches of the country with some picturesque settings in their background. The most famous region for the New Englanders to head to for surf and sand is the Cape Cod. What makes it so special is the fact that unlike the beaches in Florida the beaches of Cape Cod are much more family oriented and you will find quite a lot of kids building their sand castles on these beaches.
The most famous town in the Cape area is the Provincetown which rose to fame as a winter retreat for the famous writers and thinkers of the country. Although the Cape is accessible from all six states of the New England if you are arriving from abroad then it will be a better idea to take a cheap flight to Boston in the state of Massachusetts and then make the journey to the Provincetown or any other small town in the cape area by road. The reason for which the most tourists choose Provincetown is the fact that it has the most extensive tourism infrastructure in the area with many hotels and resorts that cater to all kind of tourists ranging from the ones looking for luxury to the ones that are travelling on a budget.
Provincetown is a travel destination in itself with a long history that stretches to the first arrival of the Europeans in the 1620 and their encounter with the native people of the area resulting in an alliance that allowed the first settlers to establish a small settlement in the vicinity. But the Provincetown got famous as many of the greatest writers and artists choose it as their winter retreat in the last century which has in fact transformed the lifestyle and culture of the city with the opening of some great museums and art galleries. But the main reason of your arrival in the town is to use it as a staging ground for your ventures in the Cape Cod region. If you are interested in a little history then you can visit the First Encounter Beach on the southern tip of the bay area which is the exact place where the first European settlers met the indigenous Americans.
The 40 km shoreline that stretches around the outer rim of the cape has some of the most pristine beaches that you will ever find anywhere in the world. They are sandy, clear and there are enough deserted places on them to relax in the solitude. There are also a number of small laidback fishing villages along the shoreline that can offer some fresh seafood right out of the fishermen’s net. The forests in the background provide a good hiking and trekking experience making Cape Cod a complete travel destination.
