Hill Station of Sydney, Blue Mountain

After taking a cheap flight to Sydney, if you take the Great Western Highway it should not take you more than 45 minutes for reaching the foothills of the mountain. Katoomba the highest peak of the mountain may need a little trekking but if you are in no mood of this effort then you can head to any of its valleys and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing vacation in their picturesque settings. Most of the tourist love to camp out in the valleys of the mountain but if you are looking for a hotel to stay in then there will be plenty of them all across the mountain that ranges from one five star hotel to many who cater to the tourists that are travelling on a budget.

There are a few laidback towns in the mountain that can offer you with the supplies if you are planning for a long camping in the area. The first town on the highway is the Wentworth Falls that will provide you with the first sight of the beautiful scenery of the mountain. The small town of Leura is the closest to Katoomba being just 3 km from the summit and has a beautiful garden called the Everglades Garden that was built in 1930’s and is maintained by the national trust.

The scenic beauty of the place will surely bring the artist hidden in you out and that was the reason why the Katoomba was selected by some of the great artists of Australia for their art galleries. You will find some of the best pieces of arts in these galleries and they will be worth your visit. Falls Grey is considered as the best privately owned gallery of the Blue Mountain and is located in the town of Wentworth Falls.

The major part of the mountain is protected by the national parks, the most famous of them being the Blue Mountain National park that includes the southern and some of the northern forest of the mountain. It is considered as the place with the best bush walks and drive up lookouts in the mountain and will surely be a place you won’t want to miss out on.
