The city was only founded in the 20th century and since then has been constantly enlarging with help from investors to become one of the leading seashore resorts on the Red Sea. A few years ago Hurghada was a small fishing village but now has a population of around 248,000 people and a spectacular destination to visit by flights to Egypt.
Like you would expect from any Egyptian resort, Hurghada experiences great weather all year around and especially during the summer; temperatures rise to very high amounts. If you do not do well in high temperatures then it is advised to avoid this destination in the peak of its summer as the temperatures really can become hot.
A lot of people around the world will know Hurghada as one of the international centres for aquatic sports. It has been deemed as an international centre due to having great opportunities for windsurfing, kiting, sailing, deep-sea fishing, swimming, snorkelling and diving. Hurghada is also home to some of the best looking corals in the world. With the clear water it is a perfect place to see the wide varieties of fish and coral the area has.
As well as the aquatic sports, Hurghada offers many other activities for you to choose from. Whether it is quad-biking in the Sahara Desert or Camel-riding across the biblical plains, there is something for everyone. Hurghada also has great shopping opportunities and restaurants that provide fine dining and varied cuisine from around the world.
In Hurghada, getting around is slightly different to other holiday resorts. There is no normal form of public transport but there are a lot of mini vans called jalla jalla’s that many tourists use for getting around.
