Macau with its two faces, one of its colonial past and one of the Las Vegas of Asia, have made it one of the most favorite travel destination of Asia. Macau does have an airport but it only offers regional flights to neighboring Hong Kong and a few Chinese cities. The best option is to fly to Hong Kong, and then take a ferry or a local flight to Macau. Many airlines fly cheap flights to Hong Kong; if you are travelling from Europe then you can take a flight with British Airways, Air France, KLM and Lufthansa. Cathay Pacific is the flag carrier airline of Hong Kong and offer direct flights to Hong Kong from most of the airports worldwide.
In the recent years Macau has seen a real boom in its economy, but its nothing like the boom in the Hong Kong and China. The reason is that it’s not the industrial capacity of the place that has created this boom but the Vegas style Casinos and Hotels that have made Macau the best place in Asia for having a good time. As Casinos are illegal in China and Hong Kong so this industry is totally unique to the area and is attracting a lot of visitors.
It’s not all about gambling in Macau, for example you can also pay a visit to Macau museum. It provides a deep insight into the history of this small but famous piece of land. From the ancient Chinese to the Portuguese colonial era you will find every part of history well documented here. The Restaurants of Macau are famous for their Mediterranean cuisine they serve and the best of these restaurants are located close to the harbor area. Church of St. Paul or the ruins of it are a great historical place to visit to observe the Portuguese architecture right on the coast of the Macau. Visiting Macau will surely be a memorable experience.
