If there is a place in the world that deserves the title of tropical paradise then that is Maldives. With its crisp air, white sandy beaches, lush surroundings and clear turquoise water it has all the components that you look for in an ideal tropical island. More than often newly wed couples choose Maldives as their honeymoon destination and they have a reason for it too as the solitude of its deserted islands and their picture perfect settings are perfect for igniting the flare of romance. The only sad aspect of this awesome destination is the fact that it won’t be there in a couple of decades as it is one place on earth that will be the first victim of the global warming phenomenon. The islands are some of the lowest from the sea level in the world and if the water in the Indian Ocean kept rising the way it is because of the melting of the Antarctica, it will soon wipe out these magnificent islands.
Maldives consists of more than 1100 islands and islets and only 240 of them are inhabited so that means you will be able to find enough deserted islands that you can have all for your self and relax in their peaceful surroundings. The best way to enter the country is by taking cheap flights to Malethe capital of the country from where you can hire the services of a tour operator to take you to other islands by boat. The Male is famous for its shopping experience and it is easy to find a cheap hotel while being in the capital. The waters of Maldives are some the world’s clearest and they are rich in marine life. If you have the skills and a license then you can hire the scuba diving kit from the resorts of the islands and take a boat to the sea and explore their exotic marine life. You can also snorkel in the waters close to the shores for a memorable experience or go out on sport fishing with the local fishermen.
Maldives has also risen to fame because of its many water sports in fact it is called the Asian capital of water sports. If you are enthusiastic about surfing then head to the southern islands which provide the best surfing experience of the Indian Ocean. The sports like water polo, kayaking, water skiing and boat race are also famous in the major resort islands of the country. Most of the Maldives’ islands have an excellent tourism infrastructure with some five star resorts and hotels but if you are not in a mood to pay a hefty amount for your accommodation then Maldives can also offer you its budget hotels that cater to the backpacker kind of the tourists. This is one tourist destination that has no specific season for the tourist as the weather remain constant through out the year but as its in the monsoon belt of the South Asia so the months of June leading to august can be a little wetter.
