Phuket Old Town
Phuket has to offer many things other than the beaches and islands. You can take a look at the unique Sino-Portuguese architecture. The stunning shops in the most unlikely places will surprise and delight you in the heart of Phuket’s sleepy provincial capital. The old town was once a thriving market, where the Portuguese came to buy tin ore from the miners in Penang. These miners became very rich from the trade and had Thai-style mansion made by Portuguese architects. These building and many constructed in their likeness are an attraction – a fascinating balance of the east and west, yin and yang – that should always be paid a visit.
Wat Chalong
Wat Chalong is a beautiful and most famous temple in Phuket which is visited by thousands each year. You have not seen Phuket if you have not taken a tour of Phuket town or this fascinating temple. There are about thirty temples in Phuket. Still, Wat Chalong is among the most impressive and ornately decorated of them all. Please be respectful when you visit the shrine and try to follow the customs and traditions. Refrain from standing higher than the statues of Buddha and remove your shoes before entering.
