Los Angeles has mostly remained globally associated with Hollywood. Any tourist in the area would indeed stereotype the location with every landmark exhibiting this very characteristic of the region. However, the story doesn’t end here, as the megacity has its glamour in another aspect as well; contemporary art. Grab your cheap flights to Los Angeles now as there are multiple landmarks and formal institutions present to prove this very fact in every manner, which is why they are listed below;
Watts Towers
Seemingly being a masterpiece of contemporary art, the Watts Towers were a subject of neglect from a considerable amount of time before they became prominent in the eyes of the general community. The towers have been built from recycled scrap metal, ranging from bed frames to instruments to abandoned coils and rods, and the entire structure was then coated in mortar, which is why it stands completely intact today. The multi coloured patterns adorning over its surface where further components of recycled glass and plastic from used bottles and packaging. A total of 17 interconnecting structures constitute the entire premises within which the project exists today.
Museum of Contemporary Art
From oddly patterned sculptures to unrecognizable portraits, this museum has it all. The galleries section is established indoors with canvass paintings and animations which do reflect today’s fascination with graphics technology. The grandest exhibit of them all is a full metal structure from aeroplane scrap metal, balanced upon a single leg with a clustered arrangement of components to leave the whole place overshadowed due to its scale of size. The institution has an entire club contributing the latest products for exhibits at the museum, thus evading it from turning out to be monotonous over time.
Hollywood Wax Museum
An alternative range to Madam Tassaud’s wax series, the Hollywood wax museum has statues modeled in line with some of the famed stars and characters of the cinema screen. Many prominent scenes from some of the movies have been depicted complete with their environment, such as the Titanic and Hannibal. Actors, actresses, TV shows and sitcoms have mostly remained the core subject of the museum. Certain characters like Spiderman, teenage mutant ninja turtles and superman are also present for display.
Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions
An active organization to harmonize efforts under the field of contemporary arts, the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE) provides a platform where contemporary artists step in to take new risks while experimenting with research and new ideas. Numerous foreign institutions and bodies of contemporary art take the opportunity of interacting with the artists of the field hailing from Los Angeles, carrying out exhibitions and collaborative workshops for learning purposes.
Franklin Murphy Sculpture Garden
Established under the administration of the University of California, the Franklin Murphy Sculpture Garden has black marble sculptures.
