Monumento al Divino Salvador del Mundo, or commonly referred to as Monument to the Savoir of the world is a gigantic statue of Jesus Christ on a huge modelled globe that is on the top a tall four-sided concrete base pedestal. The monument is the landmark of San Salvador and is amazingly rich in aesthetics. The monument is also illustrated on the back of one of the currency notes of El Salvador. National Palace is a historical monument first built in the nineteenth century which was caught in the wrath of fire. The Palace was later refurbished in the twentieth century in the most eloquent manner; the material was imported from Europe. By then the facility was used as the government office that had around a hundred rooms. Each room has a distinct colour association for every different office of the state. Plaza Gerardo Barrios known as Civic Plaza is a bronze statue of a soldier riding a warrior horse. The statue is dedicated to President Gerardo Barrios of El Salvador and is placed on the top of a granite pedestal exhibiting scenes of the battle and the Shield of San Salvador. Plaza Morazan is also situated in the historic centre of the city around the Roman Catholic Cathedral and the National Theatre.
