Parque Tres de Febrero directly translates to 3rd February Park which was named so as to honour the 3rd February 1852 defeat of Governor Rosas. The construction began in 1874 by Governor Rosas’s opponent President Domingo Sarmiento and fellow initiator Congressman Vicente Fidel Lopez. This park is uniquely designed by the top urbanists and architects like Jordan Czeslaw Wysocki and Julio Dormal over 25 hectares. It is locally known as Los Bosques de Palermo which means Palermo Woods. The entire space is crazy coverlet of smaller parks. With large shady trees and rich green grass, this is an urban oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city.
There are a large number of busy roads that criss-cross the park as well but this is only for a reminder that you are not lost in the words but in the middle of a large metropolitan city. Towards the south of the Avenida Figueroa Alcorta, there are numerous organized tai-chi and other exercise classes. Right next to this is a small soccer field where impromptu matches are a regular. Also circling through the park are many different tracks for joggers, bikers and in-line skaters. The small lake doesn’t allow fishing but you can still rent out a boat and row across it simply for relaxation.
The park does tend to get crowded on sunny weekends with families and picnickers around the bends. If you plan to picnic here as well you can always take advantage of the small street vendors that sell various refreshments throughout the park. These include the usual line up of corndogs and soft drinks but you can even find traditional variants like choripan which is a traditional chorizo sausage in a bread roll. But if you are looking for a proper meal then the park also features a lineup of many posh cafes that surround the Paseo de la Infanta. Bring your loved ones down and enjoy the beauty of the 3rd February park away from the loud rumblings of the city and book your cheap flights to Buenos Aires now. Some of the most unique things to see in this park include;
