The old and wonderful villas include the huge Miclavez-building located opposite the Town-hall and nearby Adda-Complx which was built in 1929. This is the place where the wealthy Greeks lived and its streets are also named after the famous rulers like the Pharaonic, Ptolemic, Fatimaid and Abbasid rulers.
You can also visit the Corniche which is dotted with the casinos that were built on slits and beach hut rows. Shatby-tombs, which are believed to be the oldest of Alexandria, are situated at Corniche’s western end near Silsila (Alexandria library is being built near the site). You can find the Royal Jewelry Museum near the Sam Stefano area just across the tram tracks. If you want to get face-to-face with the industrial districts and the working class of Alexandria, you can walk-along the Mahmudiya Canal. Antoniadis Gardens, full with history, can be found south of the Greek-district while moving along the canal. The Zoological-Gardens can also be found here (near Moharrem Bay) as well as the museum of Natural-History and Fine-Arts.
