The high-speed rail network of China was established in 2007 but now within such a short passage of time it has become the largest one of this planet with 8,358 kilometers of track (2010). It has been expected that in 2020 it may reach up to 16,000 kilometers (almost double). The much anticipated opening of the world’s longest high-speed railway line is scheduled on Wednesday 26th December in China. This train line offers passenger service from Beijing to Guangzhou and is one of the greatest innovations in this fast technological world. The average speed of the train is almost 300 kilometers per hour and the distance that it will cover between the two stations is more than 2,298 kilometers. This north-south trunk line features 2 sections of the routes, one has been operational for many years but the other one newly completed section between Beijing and Zhengzhou is going to get functional very soon. The director of the Ministry of Railways’ science and technology department Zhou Li confirmed that this new line is surely “the world’s longest high-speed railway”. The travelling time has been cut from long 20 hours to only eight hours between the 2 cities of China.
A ride was also provided to the journalists on Saturday by the high authorities and the whole journey lasted for almost 2 and a half hours between Beijing and the Zhengzhou- the snow-covered farmlands, frozen lakes and rivers and many picturesque landscapes are the amazing highlights of this complete trip so just be prepare to take flights to Beijing and be the first one to explore the beautiful parts of the country by taking a train ride between Beijing and Guangzhou. The journalists described that it made a very little noise and the complete journey was very smooth as compared to many other trips around the country.
Separated by an aisle, there are reclining seats that are divided in the rows of 2 and 3 and these seats can be turned around and are upholstered in cloth. The toilets of the train are defined by the high quality stainless steel squat variety and these bathrooms feature more space as compared to other trains. Apart from Zhengzhou, there are almost 35 stops in the whole line. These include all the major destinations like Changsha and Wuhan.
Although the network has been plagued by safety and graft scandals due to the deadly bullet train collision in 2011 but the authorities now announce this with pride that the inspection and maintenance measures related to emergency response, rolling stone, track and infrastructure will be kept in mind. The ministry booklet states “The emergency rescue system and all kinds of emergency pre-plans are established to improve emergency response ability”. To commemorate the birth of Mao Zedong, China’s great leader, this date of 26th December has been chosen. Almost 2000 tickets have already been sold for this special day and the ticket fares will fluctuate with economy.
