World Travel Organization defines tourists as people who travel to countries other than their own for leisure, business and other purposes and stay there for not more than a year. Travel and tourism is a flourishing business and industry in our day and age. People choose to travel outside their countries in search of astounding holiday retreats to enjoy their yearly vacations with their loved ones. The trend of spending a honeymoon abroad is also growing, and all sorts of tourism activities are flourishing.
There are a lot of factors to which we can attribute this trend. The increased availability of air travel along with affordability and accessibility of airfares is one of the most important reasons. The emergence of mass media and globalization has allowed the development of interest in seeing new places and meeting new people. Television is a major source allowing people a virtual visit to far off places and countries and thus helps in developing want in people to see and experience these new locales on their holidays.
Busy routines and hectic lifestyles also call for a break and what can be a better way to reconnect with yourself and your loved ones than to escape your mundane lifestyle and reach for a heavenly holiday location to enjoy moments of peace and exploration.

Due to all these reasons and factors, international tourism went up to 1.035 billion in year 2012, and this trend is on a continuous hike. Most visited international countries are France, USA, China, Spain, Italy and Turkey. The flexibility of visa barriers like in case of Europe has also resulted in more and more tourists flying for grand tours like Euro Trips because the common visa removes barriers and in one foreign trip tourists are able to see multiple countries. The excellent rail service and commutation mean further add to the travel experience by making it very easy and affordable.
After the year 2000, travel trends increased in all forms: Domestic Tourism; tourism in which people travel in the same country, Inbound Tourism; in which people who are residents of another country travel to a foreign land and Out Bound Tourism; in which residents of one country travel to foreign country.
Last but not the least the online system which allows booking of tickets, hotels and all other facilities is another big push towards the increasing tourism trend. With the matter of clicks, people can not only book their flights, manage their fares, book their hotels and get reservations but also they can check all the places they want to go and make a list of all activities of their interest thus saving them time and allowing them to have a well-planned perfect holiday.
