A frequent traveler will know just what to do but if you’re traveling for the first time, long waits at the airport can get to you and will further add to your stressed out body. So what to do once you’ve checked in your luggage and have gotten hold of your boarding pass? While you may find people sleeping frequently in the waiting lounge areas, there are other ways too in which you can either kill time at the airport or make your time here more productive.
Think smart and pack accordingly!
Your hand-carry should not just include things that were left and you wouldn’t cram it in your checked-in luggage but things that might be of any use to you in-flight or at the airport. Yes, make sure you pack any such thing that will keep you entertained at the airport just in case you’re checked-in early. It can be anything. A good book perhaps? Your tablet, iPod, and of course a fully charged Smartphone! Don’t forget to carry with you a charger just in case your battery runs out while you’re trying to beat the scores at your favorite Smartphone game.
Carrying a toothbrush, face wipes, and toothpaste is also a good add-on to your hand-carry. Nothing beats a nice refreshing face wash especially when you’re feeling exhausted with the entire wait between your boarding.
Take a walk
Sitting in one place with your entertainment gadgets can also get a little strenuous for your body. A good way to combat this is by taking a walk down the airport’s big lounges.
Shopping and food courts!
Aren’t these a lifesaver? Almost all big airports offer luxurious shopping areas where you can have a great time indulging in some great shopping. You don’t have to be a shopaholic to indulge in some duty-free shopping, but airports are known to carry some great bands and the perfect gift shops that you wouldn’t be able to keep your hands off from. And if all this shopping gets you hungry, then head to the airport’s food courts!
Airport food courts are usually heaven for all the food-lovers offering you practically all the major food brands. But you need to think smart in making your eating choices. Remember to avoid all foods that may cause acidity since you wouldn’t want an upset stomach especially during your flights!
And if travelling is likely to take a toll on you then heading to a good coffee shop just might be the best decision you have ever made.
Tip: Act smart
If you suffer from a certain type of food allergy or if you’re tight on your budget, it may be a better idea to carry your food with you. This can be a home-made sandwich or a salad. Just about anything that will not create a mess at the airport.
Get seated at the airport’s bars
Airport bars are not only there to relax you for your upcoming journey but also are a great place to meet people. But make sure you drink responsibly.
Relax and just let the experts take care of you
Most big airports offer special massage parlors, manicures and pedicures at the airport spas. This can especially be a refreshing treat if you have connecting flights. So treat yourself and rejuvenate your senses by heading to these airport spas but be prepared to spend a few bucks more than you may have anticipated since everything at the airports can get a little pricy.
