Many times we need to go through transit time on airports to reach our destinations. In my case, I always prefer a transit flight to a direct flights because the thrill of touching a new country always excites me. I know that I need to spend time at the airport but still, I find the thought intriguing that I will be in a new country amidst new people even when bounded by the airport but hey I can always buy souvenirs!
Some of us hate transit and it has its own reasons. Whatever the reason be, you can always make the transit time fun and something which will become a part of your trip; a very memorable part. Here are some of the ways to make your transit airport time interesting and less tiresome.
Keep currency:
When you have a transit time in between your flights, it is a good idea to keep some currency of that country with you. Otherwise, you can keep debit cards as most of the airports now offer ATM facilities.
Buy Souvenirs:
This is my favourite thing to do. As you land on the airport and enter the lounge area, you will find many shops selling souvenirs. Buy some for yourself and your loved ones for sake of a memory plus it adds to your travel collection. You can also buy postcards and related stuff.
Try Food:
If your transit time is long enough, make it interesting by knowing something about the country you are in. of course there are only a limited things that you can learn about when in the airport but still you can do a lot. A good idea is to find a local eating facility and Google the best local dish and order that to get the taste of it. You will love the new taste and it will add a new chapter in your travel book.
Visit the Duty Free:
Duty Free Zones are amazing. They have such nice collection of stuff that you can be sure of the quality of thing you are buying. Spend major part of your transit time in the duty free zone looking for stuff and deals that suit your needs. You never know you actually end up buying something wonderful. Look for local brands as these are what you will not be able to find elsewhere.
Use Free Wi-Fi:
Most of the airports offer free Wi-Fi facility to transit passengers limited by either usage capacity or time. Use this Wi-Fi to make your social media check-in! Yes this is a crucial part of our age and habit and along with that it makes the memory permanent. Inform your loved ones about your location and your flight time and you can also post some pictures!
Relax and Rest:
After you have done all of this get yourself a coffee or drink and wait for your flight time in the sitting area. You can get a magazine or a book to spend the remaining time or you can just watch a movie on your laptop. Most of the lounges offer sockets from where you can charge your cell phones and laptops.
You can get your charging done and keep their batteries full for the flight. You can also freshen up in the rest rooms and then get ready to reach your final destination.
