Airline Meals
One of the most frequent concerns for passengers travelling through air, especially travelling on long-haul flights is of the safety of airline meals and certain things that you need to avoid. Here are a few pointers that will help you make your flight all the more pleasant.
First and foremost, it is always best to avoid foods that may cause gas whether it is in-flight or at the airport right before you are scheduled to depart. Such foods are always best avoided as it is stated that pressurized cabin can lead to further bloating even if you don’t suffer from the problem of gas. So say a big no-no to fried food and other potentially healthy foods like potatoes, baked beans, cauliflower, onions and any other food that you think is a source of trouble for you. So while ordering your airline meal, choose carefully as this is not just a question of a pleasant flight for you, but also for the rest of the passengers flying with you.
Also, certain airlines now charge for airline meals especially if you’re taking a domestic flight. In such cases, it is always better that you carry with you light snacks. If you’re travelling with kids, make sure the snacks you carry are not ones which would create a mess or get soggy.
Other than these pointers, remember to keep yourself well hydrated while travelling, pop in a few nuts for nutrition and you’re good to go.
Passengers having dietary restrictions will have to order their specialized meals at least 24 hours prior to their scheduled departure time or at the time of their booking. These meals are specially prepared and are a service that is offered on certain flights. Dietary restrictions may be due to health or religious reasons such as kosher, halal, vegetarian, diabetic, Low salt etc.specialized children’s meals can also be ordered in certain airlines.
Airline Seats
There are a few pointers for passengers travelling in economy class, as is the case for most passengers. Many prefer window seats and aisle seats for reasons that are apparent to a frequent flyer. Window seats may grant u a perfect opportunity to enjoy your flight given the great views but an aisle seat merits more space.
Here are a few pointers that you should keep in mind while booking your seat.
· If you suffer from a certain type of disability, it is always preferable that you choose a seat whereby you will be able to move freely while in the air. Aisle seats are always the best option for such people along with exit row seats. Any other type of disability should be kept in mind while booking your seat.
· Avoid booking seats near the toilet as it may cause discomfort throughout your flight with passengers going in and coming out.
· If you are the first time traveller or even if travelling through air gives you the creeps, then it is advisable to book seats near the leading edge of the wing, i.e. the middle of the aircraft where the effects of turbulence are always minimal.
· Cabin noise is always the greatest at the end of the plane so these seats are also best avoided.
