Cities and states across the U.S Gulf Coast have seen a major impact in weather conditions, rendering the region unsuitable for flights under the influence of Tropical Storm Isaac. Meteorological reports indicate that the storm will expectedly evolve into a category 2 Hurricane crossing the Gulf of Mexico to ravage across New Orleans and Florida Panhandle in its path.
Isaac is contained by torrential winds estimated with a speed of 60 miles per hour. Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports cancelled all 589 flights on Sunday to leave many travelers stranded in terminals. American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines and JetBlue Airways are all to reschedule their flights which are held grounded since Sunday noon, after which the New Orleans airport decided to shut down as there was no air traffic to attend to.
A voluntary evacuation plan has been implemented in larger expanse of New Orleans with the entire city struck off from most means of commutation, including the shipping and the rail network. Tampa remains the city facing the least hassle in the current weather crisis dominating the entire region. A total of 30 flights, outbound and inbound inclusive, were decided to have been cancelled in these last two days.
Airlines are currently waving off fares for travelers who have to divert their journeys following the Hurricane. Cargo airlines like FedEx Corp and United Postal Service (UPS) also diverted their air routes for safer passageways out of the Hurricane zone.
