Anguilla is a small island in the British overseas territory, consisting of the main island of Anguilla and many smaller uninhabited islands and islets. Capital of this island is known as The Valley. Total area of the territory is ninety-one square kilometers. But this small island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Some of the islands in the state are Hat Island, Scrub Island, Dog Island, Seal Island and Anguillita.
Economy of the island is mainly based on tourism industry other industries include some banking and financial services and fishing industry. Scrub Island is the most visited island. Popularity of this island is because of two famous beaches, these beaches attract thousands of tourists from all over the world. Due to the thin soil of the island there is nearly no vegetation on the island, only at some places you may find some green plants. This island has no electricity and no other facilities in order to preserve the natural habitat of the shrimps. A family known as Hodge family of Anguilla owns this island. This island had been for sale by the family for a price of US Dollars 60 Million, but now the Hodge family has some new plans for the island the family is now interested in joint-venture luxury tourism development.
On the other hand Anguillita is a rarely visited island because it is only accessible by sea kayak but this island is well known for having ideal locations for snorkeling and diving, many rare species of Stingray, turtles and barracudas are found in the waters near the coasts of this island. This island is also known for many underwater caves and this island is a paradise for the cave explorers.
Anguilla is served by Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport formerly known as the Wallblake Airport. This airport has relatively short runways and is only capable of accommodating medium sized aircrafts and serves for chartered planes and regional flights to Anguilla from the Caribbean. An easier way to reach Anguilla is by a ferry from the St. Martin. You can easily find flights to Saint Martin from all major airports in the world. There are no buses or public transport system on the island besides the Taxis and rental cars. English is the main language spoken on the island and hence no communication problem for the tourists.
