Dubai is one of the most famous and favorite places for tourists from almost every part of the world. It is one of the seven emirates of United Arab Emirates, located south of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Cape; it has the second largest land area of all the emirates after Abu Dhabi and is the most populous amongst the all seven emirates. Geographic location of Dubai has made it an important trading hub and an essential port. Discovery of oil led to a boost in the economic strength and progressive development of Dubai. Today Dubai represents a global city and an important business center of the world.
Dubai gained the attention of world recently because of innovative large construction projects, including the famous Palm Islands and the magnificent hotel that is also the Icon of Dubai “Burj Al Arab”. Dubai hosts some of the most spectacular buildings and structures involving a variety of architectural styles including some of the recent versions of Islamic architecture. Dubai now has more skyscrapers than any other city in the world, Dubai now hosts the tallest man made structure built on earth known as Burj Khalifa having the height of 2,717 feet. Construction of this tower began in September 2004; the building was officially opened on 4th of Jan 2010.
Burj Al Arab is a Luxury hotel in Dubai and has the tallest building used only as a hotel, standing on an artificial island just outside the Jumeirah Beach, a private bridge connects the island to the mainland. Its design resembles a sail of a boat and is a symbol of architectural limits. It is one of the most luxurious hotels in the world, the cost of a one night stay in a suite starts from US $ 1,000. There is also a special suite called the royal suite, it is the most expensive suite of the hotel and costs US $ 28,000 per night.
Dubai International Airport is the 6th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic and 7th busiest cargo airport in the world. This airport serves as hub for the national airlines known as Emirates Airlines, this airport provides services to many other international airlines having direct flights to Dubai, and this airport serves flights to more than 100 destinations in six continents. Construction of another airport “Al Makhtoum” is in progress, this airport is expected to be the world’s largest airport with 5 runways and four terminals and capability and space for handling 160 million passengers and millions of tons of cargo.
