Egypt may have the hottest resorts and hotels in Sharm al-Sheikh and some great activities in Cairo, but still, the symbol of the country is its colossal pyramids that are a marvellous piece of ingenuity and engineering if you consider the fact that they were more than 2 millenniums ago. Millions of visitors head to Egypt each year just to visit these tombs of the great pharaohs of the past and that’s what makes the Pyramids in Giza the most visited attraction in the whole of the continent of Africa.
For visiting Giza, you first have to arrive in Cairo the capital of the country. The tourism industry of Egypt was the greatest victim of the recent turmoil in the country and the flight service of Cairo was stopped by many airlines, but as the normalcy is returning to the everyday life of the Egyptians so is the influx of the tourists in the country. British Airways, KLM, Air France and Lufthansa fly daily direct flights to Cairo from Europe. Egypt Airways is the national flag carrier of the country and after the brief closure of its services; it has recently resumed its flights for many European airports.
Giza Plateau is the one place no visitor to the country of Egypt wants to miss out on; you can book a complete tour to Giza Pyramids and other sites in the vicinity on the airport or through your hotel in Cairo. The amount of time you spend at Giza depends upon the time you have for your vacation, but for doing justice to this great historical site plan a tour of at least 4-5 days.
The pyramid of pharaoh Khafu is the largest of all the pyramids and is the first place that you want to visit. The gigantic structure of the place and the ingenuity of its builders are surely astonishing, the lone fact that they have lasted for more than 2500 years is surprising enough. You can easily find accommodation at Giza according to your budget but there is a fair bit of chance that you get ripped off if you don’t ask around before booking a room in the hotel.
There are around 100 giant pyramids and other structures on the plateau, but you may find only half of them allowing visitors entrance to the internal chambers. But it will still take a few days for you to explore the magnificent ancient treasure of Giza. The pyramids of Giza are not something that one should see, but a destination that you must see in your lifetime.
