The Karori Wildlife Sanctuary or Zealandia is a guarded natural area of New Zealand that beautifully lies in the dazzling and flamboyant destination of Wellington. It is located just 10 minutes away from the heart of the city and serves as a groundbreaking restoration project and the must-see eco-attraction.
Previously, this sanctuary served as the part of water catchment region between Brooklyn wind turbine and the Wrights Hill. The place serves as an amazing and picturesque site for the bird-watchers some of the most native birds that have been introduced here since 2000 are Whitehead, Weka, North Island, Tomtit, North Island, Takahē, South Island, Stitch bird (Hihi), Scaup, Saddleback, North Island, Robin, North Island, Pigeon, New Zealand, Little Spotted Kiwi, Red-fronted Parakeet , Brown Teal and Bellbird.
There are many other native animals that have been kept here and all of them will definitely catch your attention. 21 Maud Island frogs were brought here in 2006, 100 Giant weta were also introduced and the place also houses 70 Tuatara.
The place is very famous for being the 1st facility fully-dedicated that inform about the unique conservation story dating back to more than 80 million years . This captivating 225ha sanctuary valley offers paths for everyone- from the all-day trampers to the wheelchair-users. The guests can opt for feeding talks and the guided tours and there is much more that will amuse you. The night yours are sensational and the sanctuary also features a scenic café called as Rata. It is an ideal destination for researchers, Tertiary students and for all those people who are fond of educational tours.

Apart from the beautiful and colorful variety of birds, the place also offers shelter to many reptiles like Ornate skink, Copper skink, Common skink, Brown skink, Forest gecko and Forest gecko.
