The World of Wearable Art or WOW for short was once a visionary dream of the famous Nelson sculptor and painter Suzie Moncrieff to try and promote her tiny art gallery. But with the help of her friends and the prize money from her local arts patron she managed to turn her dream into a reality. Her unique idea was to take art off the walls and use the human body as a medium. This idea after its initial skepticism managed to turn the world in to a frenzy. They threw out the conventional catwalk show and transformed it into a full-fledged theatrical arts performance. Mixing visual arts and theater in the process the fusion resulted in ‘The Montana World of WearableArt Awards’.
After making its first appearance in 1987 it has now grown to international proportions. People from all-over the world come in to experience this celebration of wearable art extravaganza. This event has most accurately been described as:
