There is no other better way of exploring a place than by going for trekking in its landscape. Africa is a paradise for trekkers with its huge landscapes, mighty mountains, dense jungles and endless beaches it’s a place that everyone fond of trekking will consider his or her dreamland. But even within Africa, there are places that may look like custom built by nature for the trekkers.
Chefchaouen, Morocco:
The coast of Morocco is bordered by the 200 km of Rif Mountain, which are the highest mountains of Northern Africa through most of the peaks here are less than 1800 meters. The best trekking place will be around the city of Chefhaouen, the view of the Rif Mountains from the terraces of the town really attracts the visitor toward it and will surely force you to put your backpack on and head to the mountains. The Jabel el Keela is the 1616 meters mountain looming over the city of Chefchaouen, at first glance the trekking to its peak may seem a daunting task but if you get an early morning start and in a reasonable physical condition then you can easily reach its peak with a single day trekking. So get a cheap flight to Casablanca and enjoy your trekking at Chefchaouen.
Lushoto-Mitae , Tanzania:
This 3-5 day walks, depending on which route you take to complete it is the chance to explore the real Tanzania. You will pass through the cornfields of Tanzania while the farmers doing their daily chores, villages with little children running towards you trying to shake the hand of the visitor and pine jungles that are a great place for relaxing before continuing the journey. You may camp out in the wild or decide to stay in the many hotels in the villages along the walk. This is the best way to explore Tanzania, so take an flight to Dar es Salaam, try to get yourself a detailed map from the tourist department and head to this beautiful trek.
Bale Mountain National Park, Ethiopia:
It’s a 5-6 hour track within the park and if you are lucky enough there is a fair bit of chance for you to view a few unique bird species and animals like Ethiopian Wolf and Leopard. There are a number of routes that you can take for trekking; heading to Abbey Waterfall is one of them. The route is beautiful with flowers covering the most of it, you may decide to camp for the night close to the waterfall. There are a few resorts available but it’s recommended that you take most of the necessities with you from outside the park as they are short on supply for most of the time.
